Note di degustazione
This is another fabulous – and completely out-of-the-box – wine from Tuscany's Fontodi. The 2014 Pinot Nero Case Via is absolutely characteristic of the variety with raspberry, violets and bitter almond. The mouthfeel is silky and polished with refined tannins and lingering freshness. Its hard-body texture is lean and firm. Only 4,000 bottles are produced.

The 2014 Pinot Nero Case Via offers good depth, but it is not as interesting or complex as the other wines in the range. I would prefer to drink the 2014 sooner rather than later, as the flavors are already a touch forward. Scents of dried cherry, dried flowers and anise are laced into the open-knit, inviting finish. The Case Via is really more a wine of the Fontodi estate rather than a compelling expression of Pinot Noir.
