Good bright red-ruby. Blueberry and anise on the slightly medicinal nose, complicated by an exotic suggestion of white fruits. Juicy and sharply delineated, showing similar cut to the dolcetto but greater density of material. Should open nicely with a year or two of patience.

Altare's 2012 Barbera d'Alba is even better than the Dolcetto. A juicy, pliant wine, the 2012 fleshed out beautifully in the glass. Raspberry jam, cloves, flowers and mint linger on the layered, highly expressive finish.
