2018 Pommard Les Pezerolles

The 2018 Pommard Les Pézerolles 1er Cru has a ripe and generous bouquet with black cherries, blueberry, touches of violet and light loamy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, crunchy black fruit laced with brown spices and a touch of tobacco on the finish. This is full of charm and personality and is built to age.

The 2018 Pommard Les Pézerolles 1er Cru Ormes from 0.40 hectares of vine planted in 1963. Despite a very small reduction on the nose, there is plenty of intense black cherry and boysenberry fruit here. Much spicier than the Epenots, revealing hints of Chinese five-spice with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit laced with sea salt, thyme and sage, and quite complex, delivering fine-grained tannins and commendable density toward the finish. This is an excellent Pommard but it deserves 4–5 years in the cellar.
