The 2016 Blason de L'Evangile is another brilliant second wine that delivers the goods. Showing a more up-front, fruit-loaded, opulent style, it gives up tons of cassis fruits, tobacco, incense, dried herbs, and graphite. With no hard edges, a full-bodied, rounded, sexy texture, and a great finish, it's a sexy, sexy Pomerol to drink over the coming 10-15 years, if not longer.
The 2016 Blason de l’Evangile, which contains a lot of Cabernet Franc from replanted young vines, has a very perfumed bouquet of black cherries and wild strawberry, quite floral in style, with touches of violet emerging over time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, and veins of dark chocolate infuse the red fruit. The nicely balanced, smooth finish is quite sweet and generous. This is a lush second wine that should give a decade’s worth of drinking pleasure.
Thereâs pretty decadence and richness to the second wine of LâEvangile with chocolate, meat and spicy character. Very deep sweetness of fruit. Medium body, ripe and round tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink after 2023, but already delicious.
