Punteggio 89-91/100 · Da bere 2020-2028, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2017

The 2016 Volnay les Grands Poisots is completely destemmed, although it still has an attractive tertiary/woodland scent that implied otherwise. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a little chunky in the mouth, but I find this Volnay has charm and spirit. It should drink well once in bottle. Rustic maybe, but that does not bother me here.

Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2021-2028, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Nov 2017

100% whole bunch. Racked to tank in November and now on fine lees in tank. 20% new oak. Deep crimson with soft ruby rim. A little dusty and peppery on the nose but with a depth of pure dark fruit under that. As in the St-Romain, the tannic texture is very refined, dry but not at all drying – an elegance but also a wine that needs time and/or food for the juice to be more expressive. Persistent in its freshness but tied up on the palate at the moment. (JH)
