This has aromas of lemons, apricots stones, cream and acacia flowers. Very clear cut and balanced, with plenty of creamy texture. Mineral, fresh finish. Drink or hold.

The 2021 Beaune Grèves le Clos Blanc 1er Cru is upfront and bold on the nose with yellow fruit, ginger and lemongrass. This is quite…brazen! The palate is well-balanced, taut and fresh, with a fine bead of acidity. There's plenty of substance here, and it's fairly spicy and lively towards the finish. This is excellent and well worth hunting down.
The 2021 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Le Clos Blanc (Domaine Gagey) opens in the glass with aromas of pear, freshly baked bread, honeycomb and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's combines texture and tension to compelling effect.
Equally lemon yellow, little nose showing at first, a touch fatter than the Bressandes, plenty of power here behind, rather more body and character than I expected, with good length. I can never really believe in the concept of white grapes in Beaune Grèves, but I am quite impressed by the 2021. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted: October 2022
