The 2021 Corton Grand Cru sports some reduction on the nose, with darker fruit and hints of graphite filtered through a mixture of raspberry and blackberry. It becomes a little earthier with aeration and gains nuance. The palate is well balanced with pliant tannins, bright and tensile, quite elegant in style with seamlessly integrated oak. It does not have the persistence that a more benevolent season would have bestowed yet attests to classy winemaking, albeit in a burly broad-shouldered style. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Racked and ready to bottle. Firm crimson. Dry rather than sweet but with good, edgy fruit. Medium-bodied, so not 100% grand-cru weight. (JR)
The 2021 Corton Grand Cru has a really lovely nose with raspberry, briary and sous-bois scents. Poised and quite complex - very endearing. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine definition, a hint of white pepper with a well-balanced and delineated finish. Quite persistent on the aftertaste, this is a Corton that is well-worth investigating.
