Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2027-2047, Neal Martin, Oct 2025

The 2021 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is a wine that I must have completely misjudged out of barrel (either that or it just was not showing that day). Here, it has a touch of reduction on the nose, which shaves away some of its nuance and personality, but this improves with aeration and finally I feel that the reduction is just right. The palate is well balanced, quite reductive, but there is a quality Meursault here and it just requires time. Lightly spiced with ample weight on the finish. Tuck this away for three or four years and you will be rewarded. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru offers fleeting scents of Mirabelle and pear on the nose, just missing a bit of Meursault typicité. The palate is well balanced though it lacks the nuance of the finest Genevrières, tapering a little towards the finish.

Pale lemon colour. This is discreet at first on the nose, but classic Genevrières delicacy and intricacy develops on the palate, all lightly washed in a citrus juice. The oak speaks a little but is well integrated. Not a massive wine but all nicely in place. Drink from 2026-2032. Tasted: November 2022
