Good medium red. A bit lower-pitched and brisk on the nose than the Passetoutgrain L'Exception, more dominated by soil tones. Then juicy but a bit edgy and lean in the mouth, showing modest depth and ripeness. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and decent length.

The 2016 Bourgogne Pinot Noir has a delightful, straightforward but pure bouquet with wild strawberry and cranberry scents. The palate has a sorbet-like freshness on the entry—Morello cherry mixed with cranberry, good structure, with a very well-balanced finish. Very fine, even if I find just as much pleasure from Lafarge's Passetoutgrain this year.
Located between the RN74 and Volnay vineyards – an especially good strip for Bourgogne. The perfume is very intense. Fred thinks this wine expressed the joyful nature of the vintage particularly well. Very strong, fruity raspberry juice. Very playful and pleasing. Long with lovely balance. (JR)
