Charming and perfumed, the 2020 Beaune Clos du Dessus des Marconnets wafts from the glass with notions of sweet berries, peonies, orange rind, spices and plums. Medium to full-bodied, supple and velvety, with melting tannins and a seamless profile, it shows just what's possible with this appellation.

The 2020 Beaune Clos du Dessus des Marconnets, which includes 70% whole cluster and 30% new oak, has quite a stemmy nose. Fine definition, fresh and lively, although I might have used slightly less whole bunch. The palate is quite masculine, a little dry and sultry. I cannot quite work this cuvée out compared to last year. A bit harsh.
