The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Clos des Chevalier Grand Cru veers more towards yellow fruit than white, a "sunnier" bouquet compared to its peers. Lanolin, orange rind and light fish oil scents develop in the glass. However, it seems to fade over 15 minutes, perhaps returning to its shell. The palate is well-balanced with lime, orange rind and light hazelnut notes, with a twist of sour lemon lending some edge to the finish. The 2020 is a comparatively simple Chevalier-Montrachet without the finesse of its peers, though I suspect this might be the best bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Chartron's finest wine is the 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Clos des Chevaliers, an attractive white that wafts from the glass with notes of citrus oil, crisp green apple, white flowers, struck match and almond paste. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with an elegantly fleshy core of fruit, bright acids and a saline finish, it should age with grace.
The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Clos de Chevaliers Grand Cru totals 6 barrels this year. Wonderful mineralité on the nose here: this is tensile, energetic with a subtle sea cave aroma that gains intensity in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with discrete tropical veins towards the harmonious finish, a hint of frangipane on the aftertaste. Superb.
