1993 Langhe Rosso Monpra

Conterno-Fantino's Nebbiolo/Barbera blend, the 1993 Monpra, aged in small new oak casks, has turned out reasonably well in 1993. It is a spicy, oaky, slightly austere wine, that is pure, cleanly made, and well-balanced. The wine offers tomato-flavored Barbera fruit, with some of the spice, tar, and rose petal fragrance of the Nebbiolo grape. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
