(bottled in late April): Bright light yellow. Musky aroma of peach nectar does not show the lift or precision of the Clavoillon. Sweet on the attack, then ripe, broad and classically dry in the middle, displaying a fine-grained texture and surprising tension. Finishes perfumed, gripping and long. This calls for four or five years of cellaring. Last year I found more of a difference in quality between this wine and the 2012 Clavoillon.
Lightly floral on the nose – needs lots of coaxing out the glass but is more convincing of there being fruit than the Clavaillon. Lightly smoky and then very severe acidity. Sharp edges on this one! Will surely need lots of time. The finish is convincing – a column of structure. (JR)
