Note di degustazione
The 2020 Corton Clos des Marchaudes Grand Cru has an attractive bouquet with mulberry, raspberry and light floral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, quite firm, a little rustic towards the finish. A broad-shouldered Corton that just needs a little more finesse.

Monopole. TA (sulphuric) 3.9 g/l, TA (tartaric) 5.97 g/l, pH 3.35. 50% whole bunch. 17 months’ oak ageing, 35% new. Cask sample. Restrained, dark redcurrant and cherry on the palate. Plenty of purity and finesse for Corton. Freshness in the mouth combined with spicy oak, bright acidity and a lingering, savoury finish. Not a blockbuster but certainly classy. (AWH) 13.9%
If anything the grand cru version of Marchaudes offers a richer purple colour, and the fruit is that touch riper than the 1er Cru while the tannins are a little bit rougher. The wine is so backward that these features may come back into line, but hard to be sure at this stage. A conservative score therefore.
