2017 Meursault Les Forges

The 2017 Meursault Les Forges comes from a single hectare of vines (there is another, but it was populated by red vines currently being replanted with white). The vineyard is actually located in the village, not far from the campsite. This has a well-defined if slightly conservative bouquet, though it gradually gains more complexity with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a slightly waxy-textured opening and nicely judged acidity, turning increasingly spicy toward the lemongrass-tinged finish, which feels harmonious and quite persistent. This is a promising debut.
