Note di degustazione
The 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is powerful and muscular, unwinding in the glass with notes of plums, cassis and berries, complemented by hints of violets, orange rind, rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, it's rich and elegantly tannic, with fine depth at the core and a long, gently chalky fisnih.

Matured with 50% whole bunches and 50% new oak, the 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is blessed with an exquisite bouquet of mineral-rich raspberry and cranberry fruit, hints of orange blossom and Asian spice. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle but insistent grip on the entry. A little chalky in texture, this is very well defined with plenty of energy palpable on the pesistent finish. This is a superb Clos Vougeot, the most intellectual of Clerget’s 2019s.
Parcel known as 'Grand Maupertuis' near the château. 42 ares gives five or six barrels. 50% new oak, 50% whole bunch. He keeps a cap of whole berries to give some sugar to re-ferment during or after pressing to give ‘gras’. Cask sample. Very intense and serious. Much less sweet than his Côte de Beaune wines. Much juicier and more flirtatious than many Clos de Vougeots. Wine for pleasure, which might be dismissed as unserious in a blind line-up of Clos de Vougeots. Very long. Perhaps not the most typical Clos de Vougeot but very well made. Grainy finish. (JR)
