Note di degustazione
The 2018 RWT (standing for Red Winemaking Trial – the internal name for the experimental project when it started in 1995) is such a counterpoint to the St Henri Shiraz. Dark and deep, the wine is solid, powerful and imposing, with broad and grippy tannins that frame the brooding fruit. The structure is so immense here, it’s almost too much – yet the tannins are also resolved, with the flesh of the fruit creating something quite special. The wine spent 16 months in French hogsheads (64% new, with the rest one-year-old).

Dark bright spice, raspberry and reducrrant fruits, this is a delicous wine with silky tannins, well balanced with a ton of espresso, cocoa bean and bright berry grip. Peter Gago winemaker.
Opaque ruby. Dark berry liqueur, fruitcake, toasty oak and vanilla on the deeply perfumed nose. Coats the palate with sappy black and blue fruit, mocha and violet pastille flavors and vibrant mineral nuances add lift and back-end cut. Fleshy and deep but lively as well thanks to a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes on a youthfully tannic note, displaying sharp focus and superb persistence.
Aged in French oak, 66% new. Juicy, succulent black fruit with a much friendlier style than the St Henri 2017. Sweet vanilla and dark-chocolate flavours with furry tannin and lots of oak spice. Firing on all cylinders. Really impressive volume that needs time to mellow. (RH)
