Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2020-2027, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2020

The 2017 Chablis Les Vaucopins 1er Cru is bright, precise and lifted. Floral, citrus and spice notes are nicely delineated. There is good energy and resonance here, but ultimately, the Vaucopins feels a bit compact, especially in the mid-palate.

The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin is also showing very well—no surprise, since Long-Depaquit owns a full five hectares in this climat. Notes of crisp yellow apples and clear honey mingling with white flowers in a pretty bouquet introduce a medium to full-bodied, supple and limpid wine with a caressing attack, good depth at the core and a penetrating, mineral finish.

Quite a generous style of Chablis with ripe-pear character. But, with some time and air, this also reveals some earthy depths and the long, mineral finish shows great promise for the future. Better from 2020.

15% aged in one- to five-year-old oak barrels for 10 months. Leesy, creamy nose. Green apple-skin fruit. Classic, standard Chablis with smooth structure and medium body. (RH)
