Translucent ruby with a medium brick rim. Slightly dank-autumn-leaf nose – not terribly open or encouraging. Tart Morello cherry fruit and lean, ballerina-muscled tannins. The palate has more charm than the nose, although there's a sparse elegance to the wine. Not erring on the side of ebullience or generosity! (TC)

Novello. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Good Nebbiolo nose with hints of spice. Compact Mon Chéri fruit (liqueur cherry chocolate) on the palate and rather firm, slightly astringent tannins, yet with good length. A tiny touch green, perhaps. (WS)
