The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino shows a mix of ripe strawberry and plum, giving way to notes of brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger and worn leather, lifted by dusty red floral tones. On the palate, I find silky textures, showcasing ripe red and blue berry fruits, with sweet spices and slow mounting tannin, as pretty inner florals develop. The finish is long, showing the wine's youthful, clenching wood tannins, yet also kept fresh through brisk acids, as notes of dried red berries and spice slowly fade.
Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. A slightly broad fruit nose, mirrored by soft, generous fruit on the palate and with lots of grainy tannins, but already showing development. (WS)
Thereâs a beautiful interplay between bright, primary florals, such as rose petals and tulips and dust, hay bale and dried raspberries. The palate suggests a ripe, powerful persona with chewy, juicy tannins and a fine line of pretty acidity. Best ever. Drink from 2022.
