Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2024-2042, Neal Martin, Nov 2022

The 2018 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru has a fresh and vibrant, well-defined bouquet, with touches of orange zest and hazelnut. The aromatics here are complex and quite alluring. The palate is well balanced with plenty of depth, quite spicy in the mouth with insistent grip. Plenty going on here, hints of grilled nuts and spices fan out with intent on the finish. Delicious now, but it will age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Two different plots in Dessus. Total 2.65 ha. One plot, sunny with brown clay and very early maturing. Floral/herbal top note. Classical Genevrières that winemaker Frédéric Weber describes as hazelnuts and white flowers. The other plot, higher, on quite different soil with white stones and limestone. Matures 3–5 days later and has more acidity. The two are blended. Very complete and seductive. Long. (JR)

More demonstrative out of the gates than the 2017 rendition, Bouchard's 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières is showing well from bottle, wafting from the glass with lovely aromas of ripe Anjou pears, citrus oil, fresh pastry and peaches. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and generous, it's charming and expressive, with an ample core of fruit, succulent acids and a nicely defined finish. This will drink well young.
