Note di degustazione
The 2017 Chianti Classico (made with 95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo) is a saturated and rich red wine with a terrific sense of life and vitality. The quality of fruit is polished, delineated and sharp. Red and purple berry aromas mingle with light toast, spice and crushed limestone. This wine boasts beautiful primary fruit and makes every effort to flaunt it. The tannins are present, you won't forget them, but there is enough texture and succulence to wash over any leftover sharpness or astringency. Serve it with an appetizer of meatballs and rosemary focaccia. Some 41,500 bottles were made.

The 2017 Chianti Classico is rich, ample and beautifully textured, with all of the natural richness of the year on display. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice and licorice infuse a decidedly dark, brooding Chianti Classico. A dollop of whole clusters adds freshness and perfume, but readers should expect a big, potent Chianti Classico with serious fruit intensity as well as structure. I would prefer to cellar the 2017 to allow some of the baby fat to melt away.
The purity of fruit with cherries and raspberries, as well as mineral character, is so wonderful in this Chianti Classico. Medium body. Balanced and nicely fruity with fresh, firm tannins. All here. Drink or hold.
Gaiole in Chianti. 95% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo. Cask sample. Mid crimson. Earthy cherry nose with plenty of depth. Succulent, concentrated and with long, gripping tannins and with minerally notes. Proper tangy finish. Quite a triumph for this very hot vintage. (WS)
