Pure Chablis texture and minerality from this famous Premier Cru. That quintessential limestone, with lemon and lime zests, and an extra hint of exotic fruit, demonstrating the concentration of the vintage. Lovely chalky notes. Amazing intense acidity, freshness in droves too. Real depth and balance here, there’s so much to love. Wow.

The 2018 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru, aged 15 months on the lees, has more Chablis character than the Fourchaume, and greater tension; subtle flinty aromas develop with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and crisp. The spicy finish lingers in the mouth. This is a fine, energetic Montée de Tonnerre that should offer a decade of drinking pleasure.
