Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Fine, subtle cherry and raspberry nose with a note of black tea leaves and wet gravel. Lots of juice and gritty tannins forming a stunning unity on the finish. Aromatic, elegant and long. (WS)

The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Phenomena is dusty, spicy and slightly exotic, enticing with an array of clove, allspice, cedar shavings and mocha before giving way to dried black cherry tones. This smooths over the palate with silken textures and ripe red and black fruit, as hints of tobacco resonate toward the close. Finishing with medium length, it is surprisingly fresh, still a bit grippy and nearing perfect maturity.
This wine carries its weight and intensity very nicely. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Phenomena delivers classic characteristics of Sangiovese grown in this unique appellation located in southern Tuscany. Bold cherry and cassis are followed by spice, smoke and scorched earth. In the mouth, this Riserva offers density, power and momentum. Thanks to that bright acidity, the wine should evolve well. Some 3,800 bottles were produced.
Mid ruby with orange tinges. Savoury and a little wild on the nose and not yet open. Mouth-filling fruit that at first seems almost rich, but then pulled back by juicy, energetic acidity. Very youthful and untamed. Beautiful medium-bodied, elegant constitution. (WS)
