2016 Puligny Montrachet La Garenne

The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne comes from two parcels that form 0.15 hectares in total, with some vines so old that nobody knows when they were planted, augmented by younger plantings from 2010. It has a clean and precise bouquet that offers hints of oyster shells and sea spray, all well defined but not extravagant or intense. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, with beautifully judged acidity and outstanding mineralité. This is so effortless and vivid—simply one of the best Puligny-Montrachets that I tasted in this vintage.
