Note di degustazione
The estate's 2015 Poggio alle Gazze is a very pretty, supple white to drink now and over the next few years while the orchard fruit, lime and floral notes retain a measure of brightness. The 2015 has a degree of mid-palate texture, richness and exoticism that is not typical of recent editions of this wine. Some of that may be attributable to the higher percentage of Viognier in 2015.

First brought into the United States by Vintus in 1987, the 2015 Poggio alle Gazze is a beautiful white based largely on Sauvignon Blanc, yet includes 23% Viognier, 14% Vermentino, and 2% Petit Manseng. Fermented in 23% new French oak (the balance is largely in concrete and tanks), it offers outstanding notes of melons, pears, and citrus. Rounded, medium-bodied and textured, it picks up a tropical slant with time in the glass, has nicely integrated acidity, and is a singular, exotic white that should keep for 2-3 years.
Based mostly on Sauvignon Blanc, the 2015 Poggio alla Gazze is a light and fragrant wine with just enough texture and creaminess at the back to pair with more sophisticated seafood dishes such as sea bream baked in a salt crust. This vintage shows a fruit-forward disposition and ripe fruit but offers less in terms of tension and focus.
