Note di degustazione
The 2013 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets "Ancienne Cuvée Carnot" is showing well, opening in the glass with a complex bouquet of smoked meats, hoisin, wild berry fruit and spices. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, delicate and precise, with racy acids, powdery tannins and impressive concentration despite its fine-boned format, and its sappy expression of fruit is complemented by considerable savory nuance, concluding with a sappy finish.

Medium-deep red. Inviting scents of flowers, woodsmoke, leather and exotic spices. Pliant but firm, offering lovely inner-mouth floral lift to the flavors of cherry, minerals and leather. This seamless, silky wine shows a very nice balance of fruit and acidity. Finishes energetic and persistent, with considerable nuance.
Mid crimson. Dark red fruit and a hint of oak sweetness plus a touch of cedar. This has better depth of fruit and the tannins are better integrated with that fruit than on the Bouchard wines tasted so far, so that it makes a much more satisfying whole. (JH)
(totally destemmed): Bright, dark red. Reticent but pure aromas of black cherry, licorice and menthol. Sweet and pliant in the middle palate, showing more black than red fruits. Nicely balanced, rich and intense Volnay, finishing with a suave dusting of tannins and very good grip.
