We are lucky to have a superb bottle of the 2000 Barolo Otin Fiorin Piè Rupestris - Nebioli. The 2000 is rich, powerful and explosive. It is also quite fresh for its age, something that is not possible to say for some 2000s. The blend of the warm year and the classicism of Cappellano results in a captivating Barolo that is superb tonight. This is such an impressive wine. Wow!

Firm tannins buffer the natural intensity and ripeness in this striking, drop-dead gorgeous Barolo from Cappellano. As always, Cappellano asks that his wines not receive numerical ratings.

Serralunga d’Alba’s Cappellano is one of Barolo’s most legendary producers, producing ultra-traditional styles of Nebbiolo. Made famous by Teobaldo and now in the hands of his son Augusto, the estate is best known for its Barolo Piè Franco, a wine from ungrafted vines in the Gabutti Cru.
