Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2020-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Nov 2019

The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Blagny (Maison) is showing very well, wafting from the glass with aromas of waxy citrus rind, blanched almonds, fresh peach and nutmeg. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and satiny, with fine concentration and chewy extract, girdled in racy acids, and concluding with a precise, saline finish. This is showing good tension in bottle, and while it will be approachable young, it has the substance to improve with bottle age.

The 2017 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru is not from the domaine but comes from a 12-year contract whereby Faiveley does all the farming in the vineyard. It has a fresh, citrus-driven bouquet featuring notes of orange blossom and crushed stone. The palate is well balanced, with crisp acidity, touches of orange zest and quince, and a pretty, passion-fruit-tinged finish. Enjoy over the next five to eight years.

Cask sample. Ripe citrus aroma with just a touch of apricot and orange. Ripe and sweet-tasting on the palate, doesn’t taste bone dry even if it is technically so. Sweet/sour and a little hot on the finish. Lots of fruit but just a bit overweight for my palate. Alcohol seems high. (JH)
