2016 Meursault Blagny

(this was Jobard's only parcel that was not touched by frost in 2016, producing 53 hectoliters per hectare): Highly aromatic scents of yellow fruits and minerals lifted by white flowers. Round on the attack, then discreetly spicy in the middle palate; more about finesse and precision than obvious fruit. There's something very natural about this nicely balanced wine, which finishes minerally, firm and long. This is 12.9% alcohol without chaptalization, according to Jobard.

Correct but fairly discreet nose. A little low key on the palate too. Brooding or just dull? I’m not sure. Pretty chewy at present. Dull finish. (JR)

The 2016 Meursault Blagny 1er Cru has an understated bouquet at first that unwinds with subtle peppermint scents that complement the green apple and light kiwi fruit aromas. It feels delicate and never wants to grab your attention. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity, one of Jobard's more saline wines in 2016, with very impressive control and density on the finish. You can feel this lingering in the mouth long after it has departed.
