2011 Brunello di Montalcino Lupi e Sirene Riserva

Otherwise, the 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Lupi e Sirene takes us back to basics. This is an elaborate and studiously worked wine that remains faithful to a special philosophy and very unique estate within the classic context of Montalcino. There's an element of folly or impromptu exuberance that you always get with Podere le Ripi. If you've ever met biodynamic vintner Francesco Illy, you might know what I mean. He exudes eccentricity and enthusiasm on every level down to his unruly facial hair. The wine is dark and brooding in appearance with dark berry nuances and determined doses of exotic spice. The mouthfeel is velvety and slightly textured.
