The 2012 Batard-Montrachet is dense, rich and voluptuous, yet it retains superb finesse. It is precisely those contrasts that make the Batard so alluring. Exotic tropical and mineral notes develop as the wine sits in the glass, but readers will have to wait a number of years before the flavors and textures are fully developed. This is another superb white from d'Auvenay.
