Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2020-2040, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2019

Wafting from the glass with aromas of buttered orchard fruit, ripe lemons and blanched almonds, the 2016 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a broad-shouldered, powerful profile, chewy structuring dry extract and racy acids, concluding with a long and penetrating finish. This is a very persuasive wine from Girardin.

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2023-2031, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2018

(from three parcels on the Aloxe-Corton side, where there was very little frost): Bright, light yellow. Citrus zest and clove on the nose, with some new oak showing. Concentrated and nicely delineated, with its citrus fruit, crushed rock and salty mineral flavors conveying a strong impression of soil. At once dense and light on its feet, with a medicinal menthol note carrying through the wine to its building, lightly tannic, palate-saturating finish. This energetic Corton-Charlemagne, which was too reduced to taste a year ago from barrel, is a pleasant surprise but it calls for patience.

Rather a simple nose and without the charm and precision of some of his premiers crus. It may just be too youthful to judge. (JR)
