Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2024-2036, Richard Hemming MW, jancisrobinson.com, Mar 2023

Not much on the nose, then a load of primary red fruit on the palate which is still very youthful. Not much sense of terroir, unless you count the fruit intensity and firm structure. Perhaps more will come with time. (RH)

The 2016 Corton-Grancey Grand Cru is deeper in colour than its peers with blackberry and raspberry fruit, hints of mulch-like undergrowth and wilted violets. This is quite complex, even if it misses a little joie-de-vivre . The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, a fine bead of acidity, quite precise and classy towards the finish that shows impressive integration of oak and substance. This is a well crafted, very typical Corton that should age with style. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

The 2016 Château Corton-Grancey Grand Cru is showing very well from bottle, unfurling in the glass with a youthfully tight-knit bouquet of plums, cassis, subtle spices and incipient hints of forest floor. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with tangy acids, fine but firm structuring tannins and a long, expansive finish. Attractively complete and built for the cellar, this will reward bottle age.
