Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2024-2033, Eric Guido, Vinous, Feb 2024

The prestige of Montosoli is on full display in the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino from Altesino. A gorgeous mélange of black raspberry and dried cherry is perfectly complemented by violet florals and hints of crushed stone. It flows across the palate with silken textures and polished red and black fruits, while an underscoring of tactile mineral tones adds an almost salty edginess toward the close. The 2013 finishes long and staining, now only gently tannic, leaving notes of licorice and spice that linger on and on. There’s a sensation of generosity here, yet also a balance that will carry it for many years to come. What a beauty.

Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2020-2035, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Mar 2018

This celebrated single-vineyard wine follows through with many of the attractive themes presented in the base Brunello, only you get more robust intensity and power here. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli is slightly more angular and edgy. You don't get the same immediate silkiness that you find in the non-vineyard-specific alternative. This wine plays up its structure with firm tannins and solid building blocks of red fruit and spice. There is a sweet note of clove or cinnamon on the close.

Opulent aromas of plum, dark berry, flower and sandalwood. Full body. Dense yet vivid and energetic. Wonderful exotic character and intensity. Great finish. Drink in 2021.

Punteggio 15/20 · Da bere 2018-2022, Jancis Robinson MW, Jan 2018

Mid to deep ruby. Very lifted cherry and cassis nose. Volatile acidity? Lifted cassis and raspberry-fruit palate with coating tannins. Very unusual in its intrusive, brash aromatics. (WS) (JR)
