Mid garnet. Some mossiness on the nose and attractive sweet raspberry fruit on the palate. Quite a bit of structure and potential. Very vigorous with some concentration. Fine tannins in abundance. Admirably bright fruit. Good persistence. (JR)

The Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Vergelesses is 100% de-stemmed and it was matured in one new barrel out of four, with just a few bunches of whole bunch fruit. It has an attractive bouquet with cranberry and raspberry fruit, nicely defined with commendable lift. The palate is medium-bodied with punchy black fruit that feels quite grippy in the mouth; perhaps it is a little coarse on the finish but with plenty of character.
