Punteggio 94/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, Nov 2005

Much nicer nose than the 94 with lots of clean fruit and some raspberry liqueur, pepper and meat. Noticeably higher in acidity than with great balance and a nice finish. Maybe not quite as much structure as the 94. I kept going back and forth between these two and I thought I liked the 95 better at first but I'm leaning more towards the 94 due to the palate. Both were a treat to drink.

Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2004-2020, Robert Parker, Feb 2000

The 1995 Clos Erasmus's levels of extract and richness are nearly off the chart. Only 280 cases were produced of this wine, which tips the scales at 14.6% alcohol. The wine had been open for 24 hours before I tasted it, yet it revealed no signs of oxidation or fruit deterioration! This is not a wine for the shy. It is a huge, massive, powerhouse example with a dense, port-like purple color, and aromas of macerated black fruits intermixed with minerals and French oak. Huge in the mouth, with extraordinary purity, this wine is almost too much of a good thing - but I loved it! Give it 4-5 years of cellaring and drink it over the following two decades.
