Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2024-2040, Neal Martin, Jan 2022

The 2017 Pommard Clos Blanc 1er Cru has a clean, precise bouquet of blackberry, briary and wild hedgerow scents, the oak nicely integrated. It’s quite reduced at present, though that should blow off. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy, with supple tannins and touches of white pepper, clove and Chinese five-spice, leading to a harmonious and quite powerful finish. Yes, a bit brutish, but it should improve with bottle age. Closure is Diam 5. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Bottled. Translucent cherry red. These Launay-Horiot wines are so elegant and deceptively gentle. Juicy and scented on the palate. Again it's delicate compared with stereotypical Pommard. Fine boned and fragrantly persistent. (JH)

The 2017 Pommard Clos-Blanc 1er Cru has a masculine, quite earthy bouquet that displays touches of damp undergrowth – quintessential Pommard in many ways. The well-balanced palate offers dark berry fruit infused with notes of pain d’épices and cracked black pepper, and a finely structured finish. This should give 12 to 15 years of drinking pleasure.
