Note di degustazione
The 2007 Vin San Giusto (375 ml) continues in the great tradition of this fabulous dessert wine. This wine was conceived as a full-fledged Vin Santo del Chianti Classico but because appellation laws require that the wine have at least 12% alcohol, it was declassified to IGT Toscana. The blend of fruit used is 90% Malvasia and 10% Trebbiano. The bouquet opens to stunning aromas of honey, thick caramel, brown sugar and dried apricot. The mouthfeel is rich, consistent and silky in texture. It is sweet but never heavy. Only 2,500 bottles were made.

The 2006 Vin San Giusto is simply exquisite. Dried figs, burnt sugar, smoke, anise and wild flowers all flesh out as this suave, polished sweet wine show off its considerable personality. Despite a whopping 430 grams of residual sugar, the 2006 manages to remain weightless and gracious throughout. To be sure, the Vin San Giusto will appeal most to readers who enjoy overt sweet wines. There is plenty to like here, including the wine's fabulous overall balance.
