Pale lemon colored, the 2016 L'Extravagant has an electric nose of lime cordial, grapefruit, fresh pineapple and orange blossom with nuances of acacia honey, peach blossoms and chalk dust. Super sweet, super rich and fantastically pure, the palate possesses amazing intensity with a great line of acid to balance and a very, very long finish.

Really racy and ethereal. Wonderful stuff! Oak is still a little obvious but there is such glorious concentration of all the elements of a great Sauternes, it is to be celebrated. (JR)
The 2016 Doisy-Daëne L'Extravagant is a gorgeous wine. A rush of coconut, passion fruit, mint and lime notes make a strong opening statement. Plush and unctuous on the palate, the 2016 offers notable depth and persistence. In 2016, the Extravagant is not quite as opulent as it can be, and while it is stylistically very different from the straight Doisy-Daëne, it is not meaningfully more complex. All that said, the Extravagant is one of the finer Sauternes of the vintage.
An enticing mix of plump pineapple, ginger, white peach and tangerine flavors, with a viscous edge to the finish. Shows the plumper, more forward style of the vintage but has admirable length and cut as well. Apr 2017, James Molesworth, www.winespectator.com
