The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru comprises of two barrels this year, one of the new (there will be none in 2016 due to hail). It offers dried honey, honeysuckle and touches of brioche on the nose. The palate is rounded on the entry with tropical tones, guava and peach, a touch of pineapple towards the candied finish. It is a perfectly respectable Corton-Charlemagne that will give a decade's worth of drinking happiness.
Tank sample. From a parcel swapped with Pierre Bize, on the Pernand side, en Charlemagne. Very interesting herby grapefruit nose. Both rich and tight! Very tightly laced… Lots of density. But awfully young – a more citrus than almonds Corton. Wait! (JR)
