The 2015 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Champlots has a tightly wound, more fumé inspired bouquet with touches of cold flint emerging with time. This is certainly a more reserved Saint-Aubin aromatically speaking. The palate is fresh on the entry with a pleasant salinity, more so than the other Saint Aubin premier crus, with a Muscadet-like, Atlantic tang on the finish. This is a well-crafted, characterful Saint-Aubin from Pierre-Yves Colin.

Cask sample. Racked last week. Vines that are 30 years old in quite a cool sector. Assertive and fine with excellent constitution. Should age well. Very muscular. (JR)
Pale, green-tinged yellow. Reduced aromas of lime and cold steel. Saline and densely packed, showing a plump middle given shape by harmonious lemon-limey acidity. A bit less penetrating than the Le Banc but there's more material here. These 30-year-old vines are located just above La Chatenière, facing southwest.
