Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2022-2035, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2018

The 2015 Beaune Les Teurons packs a serious punch, with quite a bit of intensity in its fruit, but with equally forbidding young tannins. It will be interesting to see if the 2015 softens a touch. Today, the tannins are hard, coarse and not yet integrated, while the oak is also a bit out of balance, something I did not see with the other 2015s here. Perhaps I caught the Teurons at an awkward stage. This parcel sustained quite a bit of hail damage between 2012 and 2014, and the vines may still be carrying some of the residual effects of that stress. We will see.

Apparently this was the first year that this vineyard had not been frosted over since Remoissenet purchased the parcel in 2012. The 2015 Beaune 1Er Cru Tuerons has a lifted blackcurrant and blueberry—lovely purity. The palate is medium-bodied with tart red cherry and a slight bitterness on the finish.

Bright ruby-red; a bit less saturated than the Grèves. Roasted, high-toned aromas and flavors of kirsch and licorice. Very concentrated and sweet but a little much for this taster. A strong dusting of tannins leaves the palate parched. A bit of a monster but undeniably rich.
