2015 Le Corton

The 2015 Corton Grand Cru, which contains a little Corton Bressandes, has been offered since 2012. It has a fragrant and perfumed bouquet, floral with red cherry and cranberry leaf, and a vein of fine mineralité underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, moderate depth but good tension, with a tightly wound and understated, lightly grippy, white pepper-tinged finish that suits it absolutely fine.

(made from Le Corton and Bressandes; one-third new oak; not yet racked): Dark, bright red. Brooding aromas of dark cherry, dried rose and spices. Broad, silky and deep, offering terrific palate presence and volume, with its cherry and floral flavors complemented by spice and soil nuances. This wonderfully spherical wine finishes with very smooth tannins and terrific length. Leroux noted that this wine is normally "at the same level as Caillerets and Rugiens but is more grand cru in quality and class in 2015."
