Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2020-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2018

The 2015 Volnay Villages from the Domaine Comte Armand is lovely, offering up a high-toned bouquet of Griotte cherry, red berries, spices and dried flowers, delicately framed by new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fine-grained and pure, with lovely energy and textural elegance. A graceful Volnay.

(bottled in March of 2017): Medium red. Inviting floral lift to the aromas of black cherry and purple berries. Concentrated, ripe and pliant, but also dry and classic, with its purple fruit flavors complicated by slightly medicinal notes of licorice and herbs. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and good energy. Zinetti noted that when it comes to using whole clusters (10%, in the case of this wine), he normally "grabs the best bunches for the tank."

Round and ripe with edgy acid and tannin on the end. Very unformed but with lots of ingredients and density. (JR)

(still in barrel and not yet racked; 20% new oak; 10% vendange entier ): Healthy dark red. The nose offers a complex amalgam of raspberry, redcurrant, cherry, leather, smoke and earth. Very supple, almost creamy wine with enticing sucrosité but also good restraint. An element of saline, spicy minerality on the back end gives this wine grip but it's nonetheless suppler in style than the examples from Auxey-Duresses. The yield here was just 13 hectoliters per hectare, according to winemaker Paul Zinetti.
