Bright light-medium yellow. Aromas of lemon drop, white pepper, wild herbs and sweet oak. Quite concentrated and focused, with lovely citrussy acidity giving the palate a high pitch. Less exotic than most 2015s and not at all a powerhouse; in fact, this is a rather classic Vaudésir of finesse, and is far better in bottle than it was from tank a year ago. Much easier to drink now than the Valmur but not as minerally or brisk as that wine despite possessing a faint acid streak. This fruit was harvested on the Sunday morning following the hailstorm (a full five days later), which Christian Moreau described as "not much earlier than we had originally anticipated." Incidentally, these vines suffer from court-noué (fanleaf virus), a degenerative vine disease that reduces vigor, even though they were only planted in 1998. According to Christian Moreau, "we replanted the vines too soon after our contract with Boisset ended. The vines look like bonsai trees."

The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudesir has a beautiful bouquet, very pure and charming with scents of nectarine, quince, a touch of white chocolate and an underlying mineralité that veers you back to Chablis. The palate is very well balanced with a peachy entry and veins of clementine and quince that lead to a very harmonious finish. This is a lovely Vaudésir that should provide a decade or two of drinking pleasure.
The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudesir is completely matured in barrel. For me, this has a more convincing bouquet than the Blanchots with some gorgeous yellow flower, orange blossom and almost sweet marzipan like aromas. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, detailed and precise, the mineralité coming through towards the harmonious and pleasing finish. (this site was harvested on September 10 at 12.9% potential alcohol; the wine started in barrels and was racked into tank at the beginning of May): Ripe peach and spices on the nose. Fat, ripe and fruity, showing a thicker texture and more power than the Blanchots but not quite the clarity of that wine. A note of lichee and some faint alcoholic warmth give the wine a slight youthful harshness. This rather linear grand cru will need patience.
