Bottle number 07325. Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. At first a pinch of exotic spice over marasca cherry. Needs lots of air to open up. Brooding depth. Succulent and focused and with generous cherry fruit and fantastic chewy tannins. Very long and youthful and closes up on the finish. (WS)

It's nearly impossible to pull away from the glass as the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino wafts up with a classic blend of dusty rose, leather and earth tones, complemented by hints of sweet spice. This is soft and round, with juicy acidity and mineral-tinged red fruit, becoming spicy and potent toward the close. A lovely resonance of sour cherry, violet and lavender lingers over a coating of fine tannins, finishing structured and dramatically long.
Concentrated mid ruby. Brooding, earthy yet subtle. Big impact of ripe red fruit that piles it high without going over the top. Intense, long and tannic – a dramatic wine that needs much more age. (WS)
Il Marroneto's 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful wine and one that invites you to partake in a long evening of good food and even better company. This is a deeply convivial expression of Sangiovese that offers just a glimmer of much-needed informality and coziness to guarantee comfort. But make no mistake, this Brunello reminds you of its pedigree and precision as well. The bouquet opens to white cherry, fragrant rose blossom and violets. The finish is smooth and pliable, with graceful endnotes of smoke and crushed mineral.
