Very pale, green-tinged yellow. Lovely perfumed citrus fruit aromas and flavors. Densely packed and intense but with a juicy, weightless quality. This firm, tight wine finishes with noteworthy persistence. An excellent basic Meursault bottling.

The 2014 Meursault Village is mainly fruit from Clos de la Baronne supplemented by three smaller parcels that represent around 20% of the final blend. It has a brisk, stony, slightly reserved bouquet with touches of Granny Smith, granite and limestone. The palate is fresh and lively on the entry with a keen thread of acidity, and a slight bitter edge that appears on the mid-palate but coalescing nicely towards the tender finish. You will find few Meursault Village as good as this (apart from down the road at Coche perhaps).
This is the first time they've had a village wine – from several plots including Clos des Baronnes (bought with Lafon). Putty and freshness. Some florality. Meursault on the flatlands. Some chalky finish. Not rich but very precise and refreshing. (JR)
