Punteggio 91-93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Aug 2015

(just three barrels made, one made of oak and two of stainless steel; from vines adjacent to Les Clos at the top of the hill): Pale, bright yellow. Captivating aromas of lavender sea salt and nutmeg, along with a sexy lactic touch. Big, rich, ripe and sweet, showing more ginger and nutmeg spice notes than minerality today. This should round out well with more élevage and may well turn more petrolly. Best today on the very long, perfumed finish.

While there is some wood present it is much less than the approach used by Bernard Billaud and in this case it easily allows the cool, pure and elegant white flower, green apple, iodine and oyster shell aromas to be appreciated. There is fine density and even power to the medium-bodied flavors that are a combination of punch and refinement on the gorgeously long, complex and harmonious finish. This is terrific, though be aware that it is definitely going to require an extended amount of bottle age. Oct 2015, Drink 2024+

(25% raised in very old barrels): Pale bright yellow. Compelling oyster-shell minerality combines beautifully with a floral element on the inviting nose, which shows little sign of oak. Wonderfully rich, silky and elegant; a highly concentrated wine with outstanding finesse of texture and captivating inner-mouth aromatic character. Builds slowly and lingers long on the fine-grained, palate-staining back end. Consistent from start to finish. From 2015 on, there will be just two barrels of this wine, one made of oak and the other of stainless steel.
