Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2016-2020, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2016

Bright, deep red with ruby highlights. A slightly roasted raspberry aroma is joined by a carnal truffley note; seems less fresh than the Taillepieds and Rugiens. Then fairly sweet in the mouth but also quite salty. In a rather pruney style, finishing with reasonably ripe, building tannins and a slight rusticity.

(vinified with two-thirds whole clusters; "we're no longer in the hail world here," said de Montille as we began tasting his Côte de Nuits wines): Healthy deep red. Pungent, cool aromas of cherry, redcurrant and spices. Tangy, saline, soil-driven and dry, with brisk acidity and a hint of mint accentuating the wine's cool aspect. Classically dry wine but with a sweetness to its tannins. Finishes with a late note of licorice.

Punteggio 91-93/100 · Da bere 2017-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2014

The 2013 Nuits St Georges Aux Thorey, which is two-thirds whole-cluster fruit and 50% new oak, has a more modern, opulent bouquet compared to the Volnay and Pommard ‘13s previously: quite lush blackcurrant and iodine scents coming through with aeration. The palate is rounded and supple in the mouth, the new wood adroitly assimilated with the fruit and lending weight toward the harmonious finish. There is also an attractive spicy, lemongrass note on the aftertaste. This is showing great potential.
